Nightmare Light EP with Joel St. Julien out now!

Bandcamp_Nightmare_Light

I’m happy to announce the release of Nightmare Light, an all-electronic EP written with my friend, collaborator and out-of-this-world composer Joel St. Julien.

I’m as much an electronic musician as a composer and have been wanting to put out a purely electronic record for ages. Joel and I have been working on this for a bit now – piecing it together separately via email and file-sharing, then getting together in the flesh for mixing during numerous late-night sessions over the past year – and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve created. We’ve got a weirdly tight musical bond and making music with him has been undeniable since day one. This is the first record I’ve written with another composer and it was an amazing experience – the perfect way to break down your internal doors and let new ideas run around inside. There’s evidence of that in the new territories we explore that I’ve never explored on my own, like drone and ambient, or merging production techniques used for hip-hip with those used in classical recording. This is a dynamic record that delves into unknown worlds built on found sounds, complex rhythms, kaleidoscopic soundscapes, and wildly open ears – somehow creating beauty through deep collaboration, yet being completely isolated in the process. Definitely feels like a sign of our times.

Enjoy. You can get your copy below or at https://nightmarelight.bandcamp.com/releases
