Solo show for Decomposition Series

I’ll be heading out to Chico, CA for a set of brand-new music for solo electronics as part of the Decomposition Music Series on Jan 10th. Part of a 4-week residency by the Uncle Dad’s Art Collective, the series focuses on the concept of Decomposition as it relates to art, science, and culture.

I’ve put most of my efforts into composing for classical ensembles and writing electro-acoustic music for for so long now, and I felt like it was time to head out and start performing music just for electronics. I got into composing thru electronic music back in my teens after hearing Aphex Twin for the first time, and  am in love with it to this day. This show felt like the perfect opportunity to launch a whole new set of music into the world and get me performing solo more often, separate from the hoards of musicians I’m normally joined by on stage. As much as I love being up there with classical players and the sounds they bring, the logistics involved are substantial, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to the simplicity of playing alone. All that aside, this will be an exciting gig and is opening up a whole new musical outlet for me. Can’t wait for you all to hear it.
